LL Bean Duck Boots for Serious Hiking?

I'm out in Colorado for the summer and have to hike two 14ers (14,000+ feet mountains) by July. I want to order boots soon to break them in. I'm not a serious hiker and don't want to order expensive hiking boots that I'll never, ever wear again. However, I'm in love with the style of LL Bean's Duck Boots and would definitely get good use out of them come next winter! Would these be good enough to hike in for a serious climb or should I invest in other hikers? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much :)

Get real hiking boots. Those are great for shoveling a sidewalk, or sitting in a canoe while hunting in the fall. The sole is HORRIBLE (caps for emphasis, not yelling) for hiking rough terrain and will leave your feet hurting/injured.

Break them in over a two to three week period with daily discomfort.

Add water resisting treatment. Saddle soap if they still feel stiff.

My grandfather softened his foot leather using fresh chopped

New Mexico cow brain packed about boots in a bucket.
