What paintball gun should I get?

Question

Alright so I've been playing paintball a little while and decided to buy a marker (or gun) and some gear to play. Now I have roughly $300 and my birthday is coming up. I want to buy a marker that's high-end, but cheap enough to buy a gas tank and hopper along with it.

So far, and I'm open for suggestions-the best guns I've found are from www.actionvillage.com and www.paintballexpress.com

Best guns I've found so far are the Smart Parts Ion XE, the Proto SLG 09, the Spyder Electra 09, or the Redz Ion.

Please tell me what you think some good starter gear would be. Thank you very much.

get a tippmann 98 custom, its my only gun and ive had it for two years and havent gotten a problem yet. you dont want to be like my friends and piss everyone off because their guns are pieces of crap that dont hold up. many places rent out tippmann 98s and they are easy to install upgrades/disassemble.



i have not had a problem with my gun ever before. i have purchased an apex barrel and response trigger for it, and i am saving up for a hopper and tactical vest. i have a 20 oz tank but i dont consider that an upgrade. dont get a new hopper unless you can shoot extremely fast or your are planning on upgrading to an automatic gun.

Hey I've been playing paintball for about a 1 and a half and I'm on a DIII team so you can trust me when I say don't get any of those guns. So if you have 300 to buy a gun get something like a G3 or if you can persuade your parents an ETEK 2. Those are pretty good mid-range guns. As for gear I'll create a list.

Masks:JT Proflex $60, Profiler $50,

Pants: JT Pants $70, Dye Pants $80,

Jersey: You don't need one

and if you want get golves and elbow pads. Also some good brands are: Empire, Planet Eclipse, NXe, JT, Dye,

Also a good hopper for cheap is the Halo.

A good tank is the crossfire line.

I'd go with one of the Ions but it's hard to choose which one. The Ion XE has a BOB body (bolt out back) for easier maintenance but the Redz Ion has upgraded feedneck, asa & barrel yet is cheaper in some stores (punisherspb.com had them for $200 recently).



If you're getting an hpa/compressed air tank, steel hpa tanks are $50. Then just get an Invert Reloader for $45 (not the fastest hopper but it's good to start with).

Ive been shot by an airsoft gun and a paintball gun but paintball hurt way more they leave welts on your body for a while but the more you get hit the more you get use to it.

Ion XE can be found for about $225 but that puts a tighter limit on the loader/tank. The XE is easier to service than the regular Ion so it's personal preference to go with that model over the regular Ion.

okay i know the other answers are good, but really im not going to say anything like a high realy good gun but here are the facts, i have a 98 custon ( tippmann ) and i do really good, im 14 and i was left alone on my team against 3 adults and they all had like 1000 dollar spyders and then my gun was able to hit them from about 100 feet and they kep mising ide, but after testing some guns out that you like just pick what fits your price range, and pick the gun you like and the one u shhot best with, and the 98c can almost be any gun you want to upgrade it to, but just choose what fits your price range, and you like best
