A lot of folks write off springers as a waste of time, however I find they are invaluable to introduce people to the sport at a very low cost. Not to mention, when you have a springer-only loadout you have to plan your tactics with your team very carefully because every shot has to count. My favorite spring loadout:

KWC P226

http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2921439

$25

UHC MP5 SD3

http://www.shortyusa.com/cart/viewitem.html?II=61

$40

I have found the UHC MP5 SD3 rivals many sniper rifles at 2x or 3x the cost!

Non blow-back Co2 pistols are also very low cost and very high performance, these make great sidearms due to that fact.

Crosman Air Mag C11 Soft Air

$35~$40

TSD 1911

http://store.matrixbb.com/servlet/-strse-27061/Matrix-TSD-CO2-Powered/Detail (free case :)

$40

TSD M9

silver w/ case http://www.airsoftpost.com/matrix-powered-nonblowback-airsoft-pistol-gasesilver-p-28402.html

black w/ case http://www.airsoftpost.com/matrix-powered-nonblowback-airsoft-pistol-gase-p-24934.html

$40

The advantages:

- Co2 is more powerful & efficient

- very simple, low maintenance this is all you need aside keeping it clean http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/accessory.pl?accessory_id=222

- high reliability if properly maintained (my similar .177 models have had 10+ year lifespans) due to brain-dead simple mechanism.

- cheap magazines (see source link) low as $5 each

disadvantages:

- double-action only (no blowback, less realism)

- no hop-up

Electrics obviously have a great advantage, you can have full auto with no extra gas consumption or cost. This AEP is inexpensive, good quality and full auto!

CM030 G18 AEP Ver. 2 http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_206&products_id=2074

$48

On the down side, the small gearbox can only fit a somewhat weak spring and lower power (compared to an AEG or Co2) as a result.

Good quality AEG rifles can be had for $100+ for CYMA AK and JG brands. My Echo1 G36C is is a great choice for either CQB or woodsland play and highly reliable. Weather you need one or not depends on what the opposition has :) This one is just under $100 and is good quality and very reliable

CM031 AK-74 Ver. 2

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_206&products_id=2881

$99.75

The JG brand is also great "bang per buck" similar to above:

I suggest electric rifles. They are the most common for a rifle.Gas guns will cost you more for the gas you have to get.Electric guns are the most durable and powerful rifles out there.Gas will wear out your gun and spring rifles break easily. But when it comes to pistols, electrics are the worst to get. There are bad spring pistols, but the good ones are worth it.As I said before, gas will wear out your gun.So get a green gas pistol.Green gas is best for your pistol. And when it comes to snipers, springs are in the spotlight. They don't make electric snipers,And I have only seen one gas sniper. So I suggest getting an electric automatic, don't use lipolly batteries,a green gas pistol,or a spring sniper. For a combo,Get either an automatic electric gun,AKA:AEG, with a green gas pistol,or a spring sniper with a green gas pistol.I hope you find this accurate.

CO2 for power and accuracy. Electric for rapid full-auto fire and for shooting a lot of rounds without the power going down. Spring loaded for...nothing!
