Is the main trick for skateboarding an ollie?

Can an ollie help you accomplish other skate tricks? Is this the main/first trick you should learn? Do you have to know how to do an ollie?

Yea...the ollie is what helps you get the kickflip, heelflip, hardflip, etc...if your barely starting to learn, try to ollie on grass or carpet

Once you feel comfortable just riding around on a skateboard, an ollie is the first trick that pretty much all other tricks stem from.
