Tippmann A5 vs Spyder Sonix?

Ok so I am a beginner, and I have wanted a gun for a long time. With christmas rolling around, it is the ideal time to get a marker. But I am stuck on 2 guns.

The Tippmann name has always been known as reliable, and VERY customizable, and I have seen mixed reviews for the Sonix. The first gun I was looking at was the Bravo One (Im Canadian) or the 98c. But people said get the A5 because it is much more customizable. So I am now in a deadlock. Just so you know, I will give you some information about my paintballing preferences

I play speedball AND scenario, and have been a renter for almost a year and a half, and I go frequently. I usually play scenario more but speedball is always an open option and I do not have a bias against it. I like Tippmann guns from renting, and I have seen some pretty sweet A5 upgrades, like the M4 kit, the M16 kit, and the Sniper kit. The Spyder Sonix looks good too, and features a VERY attractive pricing (120 for kit), but I have heard that the trigger pull is HUGE and there is basically no use for the two finger trigger. Also, I heard the break easily.

I am no expert on guns, so I need you paintball gurus to help me out a bit. By the way I will be using this gun for at LEAST three years, so I would really like something that I could upgrade alot as my skill in the sport progresses.

Please help me out, and merry christmas :)

If you ask me considering the two choices I would definitely choose the A5 over the spyder sonix. The A5 is just more marker for the money. The best advantage of the A5 over the spyder is that it has a cyclone feed system. It's a force-feed system using extra gas rather than an electric motor. So it uses more gas than the regular marker, but it's reliable and it guarantees a paintball with every trigger pull.

In my view the A5 is more 'upgradeable' but most of the Tippmann Upgrades that they sell online are pretty useless. The best upgrades for Tippmanns are the functional kind: flatline barrels, E-triggers, regulators, Low-weight rear-bolts, and the tech-t soft pad cyclone paddles.

Forget the M4, M16, and sniper kits. They don't help your performance at all. That is unless you really want it to look good. Some people care about that stuff. I don't. If you don't mind the extra weight then be my guest. The A5 has enough 'milsim' look to get around without getting snubbed.

The A5 is heavy enough, but is actually light compared to the X7 phenom, which is the newest generation Tippmann. It'll leave you at a disadvantage in speedball, but you'll be able to keep up. No harm in taking it to the speedball field. Learn to play well with it and you'll be better off when you upgrade in 3 years.

Oh! Let me also tell you right away that you can modify the trigger to pull lighter on the A5. Look online to find out how, but it can be done.

I don't know about the spyder sonix being a good gun because of no expierience with with it, while the A-5, 98c, and Alpha Black(i'm American lol) they are very reliable and will last you a long time but in speedball you are basically screwed due to their weight, and also the A-5 and 98c are just as equally upgradable if not more upgrades for the 98c I hope this helps you out :)

also i want to say I have a friend selling an A-5 so if you are interested e-mail me

Performance the tippmann a5 is slightly better because tippmann has a lil better build quality. Only thing the mrx has is it can use mags, the mr4 isnt new its been out for a while and its just an upgraded mr3.
