first off i would like to say bravo it takes alot of guts to get into the sport of paintball especially when your a girl. (my sis went with me and loves it.) but ya the Spyder line is a good beginner gun. the pros about it is that it is cheap and some what upgradable as well as being very accurate. the cons is that either way you look at it is that it is electronic which just means there is more stuff to break. if i could suggest something is that you should look into a gun with no electrics like a 98c on ebay or something they are tough and very upgradable. but it is all choice i would say go to a paintball store and hold both the 98C and the mr1 and see which one fits you better. and remember its not the marker that makes the player its that player that makes the marker.

My brother in law had a mr1. They are decent markers for the price. I'd have to say it's one of the better spyders on the market. That being said, for the same money you could get a tippmann 98. They are indestructible. I started with spyders. Owned several as a matter of fact. But after I made the swap to tippmanns, I don't know why it took me so long. If you are getting a deal that's too good to pass up, then the mr1 will do. Wal mart sells a package tippmann 98 right now for about $140. That's for a gun, mask, and 9 oz co2 tank. That's what I'd really have to recommend.

The MR1 is a decent starter gun but I wouldn't start with it. It's not as customizable as a 98 Custom and not as low priced. It also doesn't carry a lifetime warrenty like the 98C. It's basically Spyder's attempt at a gun to match the 98C. Its a good gun but I recommend a 98C for a begginner. You might also take some flak for playing paintball as a girl and it might increase it with a Spyder begginning gun so it's really up to you. Whatever gun you like better, buy. Good luck girl!
