I currently have a sig 1911 scorpion and a Glock 19. To be honest I am tired of carrying the Glock I would like something new but in a sub compact. My 1911 is my range gun and my primary target shooter. What would be the best choice for a sub compact 9 or .45 that would cost under 500 if any.

I don't think there is a decent hi-power gun in sub-compact size.

There are plenty of small guns....they are just not worth it.

The closest thing I have found ( to good and small) is the Bersa 9 Ultra Compact. Its smaller than the G19, but weighs about the same. 13 rounds,vg da/sa trigger.

Then there is the Keltec PF9- smaller, 13 oz, 8 rounds.

Now if you like the 1911 platform.....one guy mentioned the 938. That may work for you. I just don't like to have to "do something" to a gun before I can shoot it.

You may look for an older Taurus 909, 911. They have been discontinued but are still around. They look like a small frame 1911 but have da/sa triggers- good guns.

Also Taurus makes the 800 series in a compact.

Runer LC9 with Crimson Trace Laserguard about $600, less with out the laser

Sig Sauer P938 $700 add about $100 for laser

Glock 26 $600

Glock 36 $650 (single stack 45!)

in 308 and the such we can get into some of them smaller guns with lower price tags,

if you find used that number I gave x.7 so you are wiling to pay 70% new (if it is in great shape)

I like my S and W Shield with an Apex trigger. I find it to be reliable and controllable.
